Chickens

Laura Jackson took over chicken management from a previous boarder. In 1998, she bought two white silkie hens and proceeded to become totally chicken-crazy.
Now, the chickens rule the roost. They get fresh grapes for treats every day and know that they're top of the food chain at the farm!
Laura started out as a breed collector and has had Black Australorps, ISA Browns, Red Rocks, Silver Laced Wyandottes, White Crested Black Polish, Buff Laced Polish, White Crested Cuckoo Polish, Silver Spangled Appenzeller Spitzhaubens, White, Blue, Buff and Red Silkies, Barred Rocks, Red Frizzle Cochins, Black Cochins, Silver and Golden Sebright bantams, Black OE Bantams, Speckled Sussex, Dark Brahmas, Americaunas, Transylvanian Naked Necks, Red Sussex, Columbian Rocks, Mille Fleurs bantams, Porcelain D’uccle bantams, Black Rosecomb Bantams, Sicilian Buttercups, Golden Campines, and almost every possible unusual cross in between. Some of the cross breds are quite amazing! Now Laura focuses mostly on chicken rescues, taking in all manner of chickens and ducks that have come from a range of different circumstances. She also is a "pigeon nanny" and regularly picks up baby pigeons from various vet clinics in Edmonton in order to feed them up and release them.
